• Explore ideas about what the future might hold.
• Understand factors influencing the health and social care workforce.
• Find out about horizon scanning at the Centre for Workforce Intelligence (CfWI).
The Horizon Scanning Hub is a collaborative platform for future-looking information, aimed at strengthening workforce planning within the health and social care sector. It has been developed by the CfWI in partnership with the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIoIR) at the University of Manchester and with Futures Diamond.
This app provides offline access to the ideas bank and project areas from the Hub. It is updated with new information when you are connected to WiFi, so you’ll always have access to the latest horizon scanning ideas from the CfWI.

About the project:
Horizon scanning is the exploration of potential challenges, opportunities, and likely future developments. Our horizon scanning vision at the CfWI is to generate high-quality intelligence to inform long-range workforce planning that meets the needs of patients and people who use services.
Horizon scanning is the first stage of the CfWI’s robust workforce planning framework. The output from horizon scanning is used to inform the scenario generation stage, where plausible future scenarios are created to inform strategic planning.
